Abby was born in 1832 in South Carolina. As Abby grew up, she fell in love with cooking and eating southern food. She famous for her southern meals, especially her pickles and preserves. Abby Fisher was one of the first African-American women to write and publish a cookbook.
Abby Fisher was born into slavery. Abby married her husband, (Alexander C. Fisher) when she was 48 years old. Abby and Alexander had 11 children. Abby's family had to fight for freedom, and when they finally got it, Abby decided to cook. Abby Fisher published a cookbook called "Fisher Knows About Southern Cooking". She put many important recipes in there. You can find her pickle recipe, soup recipe, etc. Abby was an amazing cook with an amazing life.
