Benjamin Franklin Simms

Annapolis, Maryland | 1860s

Simms, a former assistant to famed banquet cook Henry Jakes, was nationally recognized as a caterer and purveyor of Chesapeake fare. A native of Annapolis, Maryland, he worked with African American suppliers in the Chesapeake to source terrapin, oysters, and ducks.
