Edna Lewis

Virginia | 1819-1918

Edna Lewis was born in 1916 and grew up on a farm in Virginia. She worked at Cafe Nicholson where she cooked more simple things like chicken and soup but eventually left in 1954 to try something new. Rumors of her cooking skills spread and she even cooked for Eleanor Roosevelt. She wrote two books, "The Edna Lewis Cookbook" and "The Taste of Country Cooking". When she got older, Edna looked into Southern cooking and discovered more of her roots.
