Edna Lewis

1919-Present

Edna was born in April 13, 1916. She was one of the first African American women who published cookbooks without hiding name or race! Edna was cooking at Cafe Nicolson. She became famous in 1949, which is the year she opened her own cafe with her friend, John Nicolson. Edna Lewis founded the Society of the Revival and Preservation of Southern Food.
