Mobile, Alabama | 1867

Born free in Alabama, Frozine grew up in Point Coupeé, Louisiana where she learned Creole cookery. She was kidnapped and sold into slavery, but was freed in Mobile. She remained there and opened a popular 24-hour restaurant known for fresh fish, crab, oyster, and game.
