George Crum

Crum and his sister transformed the British game chip (fried potato wedges) into the American potato chip while cooking at the Moon Lake Lodge in Saratoga Springs, New York. In 1860, Crum opened Crumbs House, a restaurant catering to upscale diners, including the Vanderbilts.
