George Crum Speck

Saratoga Springs, New York | 1819-1918

George Speck was born in 1822. He was famous for inventing the potato chip at the Moon Lake Lodge in Saratoga Springs, NY in 1853 after a customer repeatedly sent some fries back saying they were too soggy. He opened his own restaurant in Malta, NY in 1860.
