Cook, Entrepreneur, Farmer

George James

South Carolina | 1930

James, a 1930s farmer from Barnwell, South Carolina, was applauded as “King of the Boiler.” The Augusta Chronicle noted in 1939 that he had mastered the art of properly boiling peanuts with just enough salt in the water to add an “unexplainable twang.”
