James Hemings

1719-1818

James Hemings was a chef that trained in France. He was born into slavery, but was Thomas Jefferson's chef. He cooked for some very important meals, such as a very historic meal between Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton. He was released from slavery in 1796.
