James Hemings

James Hemings became enslaved by Thomas Jefferson at the age of 8. He studied to become a chef in Paris and he introduced many famous dishes to America including mac n cheese. He was offered the job to work at the White House as a chef however, he refused the offer.
James Hemings once prepared a dish for Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson.
