Mildred Cotton Council

Council, known as “Mama Dip,” opened a restaurant in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, in 1976. The Chatham County native’s homestyle, country cooking by taste piqued the interest and favor of the New York Times, leading to cookbooks Mama Dip’s Kitchen and Mama Dip’s Family Cookbook.
