Percy Lavon Julian

1919-Present

Percy Lavon Julian was the first Black man in the United states to get a Phd in chemistry, and is famous for discovering synthetic cortisone and contributing to the creation of the first birth control pill. Percy is well known in the chemistry field and should be on this Legacy Quilt.
