Xavier Brown is founder of Soilful City which uses the principles of Kwanzaa as a guiding philosophy for creating and sustaining healthy neighborhoods. He operates at the boundaries of urban agriculture, environmental sustainability, and African Diasporic culture. His work merges sustainability with the issues that impact stressed communities from gun violence to mass incarceration.
