Anderson and Richards Families

Virginia | 1712

In his will, Virginian John Fulcher granted freedom and 640 acres to the enslaved Anderson and Richards families. Virginia legislators were concerned those newly freed would influence enslaved Africans, and moved the families’ acreage to North Carolina, where they became farmers.
