Leslie was a fixture in New Orleans kitchens from the mid-1970s to the early 2000s and inspired a 1987 television sitcom. A master of Creole cuisine with a legendary fried chicken recipe, his cookbook, Creole Soul, showcased his fusion of Creole cuisine with African American food.
