Black Panther School Breakfast Program

Oakland, California | 1969

Bobby Seale and Huey Newton started the Black Panther School Breakfast Program in 1969. It provided 20,000 school breakfasts per week to Black children in Oakland, California. The Black Panther School Breakfast Program preceded the 1975 federal free breakfast programs active today.
