Armstrong is the chef-consultant at Post and Beam in South Los Angeles, a Black-owned and operated restaurant. The California-born chef from Costa Rica has been a fixture in Los Angeles restaurants since 1982, when he began training under Wolfgang Puck at the age of 13.
