Margie McCray

Originally from South Carolina, McCray opened Margie’s Red Rose Diner in the Hamilton Heights neighborhood of New York in 1979. Like many homestyle spots from the era, it closed when McCray died, although it had a short reprieve when her daughter Ayoka Bell briefly re-opened it.
