Samuel Chase

In Natchez, Mississippi, Chase was an enslaved farmer who raised hogs and poultry. Using a wagon for transport, he sold the potatoes and corn he grew. He was allowed to keep the monies earned and used his mobility to communicate news to the enslaved on other plantations.
