Fisher authored the 1881 cookbook What Mrs. Fisher Knows About Old Southern Cooking, which included recipes for bread, meat, seafood, soups, and desserts. Formerly enslaved, the South Carolina native achieved fame in San Francisco as a pickle and preserves manufacturer.
