Emmit Powell

San Francisco, California | 1972

Powell’s Place, a true mom-and-pop eatery, offered Soul and Cajun food to San Francisco patrons for 35 years before it closed in 2007. Owned by Tallahassee-born Powell, the Bay Area fixture was beloved in the community for its jambalaya, oxtail stew, and short ribs.
