Marie Louise Rosette Rochon

New Orleans, Louisiana | 1780s

Rochon was the daughter of a Québécois shipbuilder and an enslaved woman. As a free woman of color in New Orleans, she was an early investor in the Faubourg Marigny and the French Quarter. There, Rochon owned residences and commercial establishments, including food shops.
