In 1991, Tipton-Martin was the first Black woman to become food editor of a major daily newspaper, The Cleveland Plain Dealer. She is the award-winning author of The Jemima Code, a history of African American cookbooks. Her new book, Jubilee, explores 200 years of Black cooking.
