George Washington Carver

1919-Present

His reputation was largely based on his promotion of crops. He used a lot of peanuts to make very exotic things. He was a leader in promoting environmentalism. After earning his master's degree in agriculture in 1896, he headed to the Agricultural department at Booker T. Washington's all Black Tuskegee Institute for nearly 20 years.
