Irene and Clint Cleaves

Memphis, Tennessee | 1946

The Cleaves opened the Four Way Grill in Memphis in 1946. Known as a safe haven where Black people could socialize and dine, it was a favorite stop for Civil Rights Movement leaders and artists from nearby Stax Records.
