Olaudah Equiano

In his autobiography The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano, the Ashaka man from modern-day Delta State, Nigeria, noted that those who controlled the food had the power. His 1789 narrative is one of the first to present the foods of West Africa.
